I’m calling this book a great beach read, because that is what I’ve done… read it on vacation in Maui. I knew of Dick Gary but had no idea of his full life story. This memoir goes thru the good, the bad and the ugly and you’re going to laugh at it all. There’s no inflated ego or maudlin tragedy, its a fun story from a man who met life’s challenges (some hilariously self created!) and ended up with a beautiful family, successful career and meaningful retirement. Buy the book! Enjoy!

I found it hilarious at times , profound at times and always interesting. A terrific look back at a life well lived. As someone who observed great chunks of your story and even participated in more than a few, I found it a great read. My only negative observation is that I think you could sell more books if you had included more chapters about me.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed Just Another Dick by Dick Gary. Dick’s story of his life from humble beginnings to his eventual success as an owner, along with his wife, Elsa, of a large advertising agency is full of fascinating life challenges. Through all of Dick’s ups and downs, he never loses his sense of humor.”

“This book will make you laugh and learn. It chronicles one man’s trip from nowhere to somewhere we’d all like to be. The story is told in a humorous, honest and self-deprecating way.

The misadventures are hilarious and the arc is definitely adventurous as our hero goes from getting kicked out of college to starting the music industry’s premier go-to ad agency. Along the way, he does his stint in the Army, runs a racetrack for cars and motorcycles, becomes New York City’s youngest radio station General Manager, works in politics, is appointed to boards, and creates charity art shows. This is a highly entertaining book.”

“Just Another Dick is a wonderful read and makes for an afternoon well spent. If you have an interest in motorcycles, skiing, business in advertising and the music industry or the art world, you’ll find an entertaining draw here. This memoir is a pleasant non-fiction account of a life well lived without the usual strife or conflict present in most of today’s autobiographical stories. That means a stress-free read that transports you across the decades with humor on every page.

The writing flows beautifully from topic to topic, life change to life change. There is a rhythm to Dick’s story that keeps the reader engaged and smiling pleasantly throughout. From military service as an unlikely MP to love lost and love found, the story of Dick’s life cruises forward like his Matchless motorcycle. Enjoy!.”

You know you're in for a wild ride from the promotional blurbs on the book cover to the author flexing on his fourth-grade nemesis, Mary Lou Roach, just a few pages in. Hailing from New York makes sense as Dick has more stories than the Empire State Building. This cat has lived at least nine lives.

This book is great for the beach, or for on your patio with a fine cab. My experience was the former; if you do the latter, swallow quickly to prevent spit-takes.
